So who’s dancing what and with whom?!
Sunday 4th February. Tonight was the night our dancers met their partner and were given their dance.
One by one, dancers were led across the floor of the parish hall to be united with their new partner in dance for the next 9 weeks. Just as soon as their hands were joined, they got a whisper in the ear and a nod of reassurance ‘You’re doing salsa’ … or jive, cha cha or charleston.
And that’s when the competition truly started. Sent to four corners of the room, the jive bunnies watched the salsas, the charlestons watched the cha chas… and everyone eyed each other up, weighing up the competition. Whether or not it was the young(er) ones that were given the jive, the snaky-hipped that were given the salsa, the old(er) ones who were lead gently to the cha cha and the high kickers who were given the Charleston, we can only speculate.
